An insulin pump is an electronic device that delivers insulin. Patients, parents, or the medical team need to input a programmed calculation system, including basal rates, insulin to carbohydrate ratio, and insulin sensitivity factor at different times of the day. You need to proactively enter your blood glucose readings and the amount of carbohydrate to be consumed. The insulin pump will then calculate the amount of bolus insulin to be delivered based on the pre-set programme.
